Cuda, You will need a multimeter to check this. A cheap one from Radio Shack will work fine. Take off your seat and read the battery voltage with the ignition off. You should read about 12.6 volts. That's the state of the battery. Now start the bike and read across the the battery posts. You should get about 14.4 volts if the charging circuit is working. This is just a basic test and could miss some problems that are happening when you are moving. Still, it's a good place to start. Please don't just start changing parts. Use a systematic approach to your troubleshooting to find out what is really wrong.

When I put a multimeter on it last night, I only read 12 volts while running, unless I opened the throttle. Then it would climb. Any more tips?

Take it to the dealer and let them test the regulator. The cost (if any) to test it, should be minimal. If it's defective, then you can decide whether to change it yourself or let them do it.

Put a brand new one on it last night.

I searched the forum and found how to test the stator. It's trashed. Bought a new one and will have it on in a couple of hours. Hopefully that will cure the problem, and I can move on to the other little bugs in the bike. New poly riser bushings are next on the to-do list.

Should have, could have started here first. Easy test is to open the primary derby cover, the oil should stink real bad.

Oil smelled fine. New stator appears to have fixed the problem thus far.

I'm assuming those are aftermarket, 'cause I didn't think the moco put any out with true duals?
If the battery tested ok.and you're seeing somewhere around 14 volts on your volt meter with the bike running,I'd look for a high resistance connection or loose wire. If you do use an ammeter be sure you're in series with the battery and regulator and the meter will handle the output current of the regulator.
