Default super tuner or power comander V

Im looking to get a tuner for my 09 street glide and Im thinking of getting a super tuner but I see alot of people on here running a power comanderV. I would like to here some opinions on both units and what kind of luck every body is having with both. Right now I have vance & hines oval slip ons and every thing else is stock Im planning on a screamin eagle heavy breather and possibly some different cams and head work in the future. Thanks for any input.

I went PowerCommander to avoid paying the dyno time for every mod. I was also concerned about the crapshoot that many seem to play finding a good tuner. I wasn't really keen on dropping $400 X 3 to find a good guy, then more $$ for every minor change.

PC V + AutoTune module is about $600, and you only cry once.

A good thing about this forum is that you will get a lot of different opinions. I went with the TTS Master Tune for my 09 SG. Just because you get the Power Commander doesn't mean you will never have to find a tuner and get some Dyno time. Using a canned map has it's limitations. As you progress to engine modifications you will see. There are pros and cons for every method.

That's why they have an AutoTune module with wideband O2 sensors. Other than establishing your desired AFR, it really does handle the rest.

I thought you couldn't adjust your timing with autotune?

The TTS is the best way to go.Cheaper then PCV with autotune. Able to tune and set your AFR, Timing and a ton of other setting. As you change your bike you just retune it and never have to dyno it like a super tuner

I went with the PC V for the stage one, with the option of adding the auto tune later on if I need it. Install was simple, and the bike runs great.

The SEST has the advantage of being dealer supported, but the cost is much higer. If I ever need warranty work on the engine, I can remove the PC V in a few minutes. I've heard that it still leaves a fingerprint on the ECM, but I've never heard of the MOCO denying a warranty claim because of it.

I've heard from Fuel Moto that it does not leave a "footprint" on the ECM. Don't really see how it could since it fools the ECM into thinking the O2 sensors are still there and throws no codes. I'm not argueing with ya here bro, just wondering what the real skinny is. :-)

There are numerous threads here on the subject of tuners, so if you'll do a search you'll find plenty of info. Search on "PCV", "Fuel Moto", and "SEST" for starters. Here are some of your options:

PCV: Get this from Fuel Moto and you'll get a good price, accurate map for your bike and equipment, and service after the sale. Do an upgrade? Call Fuel Moto for an updated map. No dyno tune needed for the majority of applications. $300.

PCV + Auto-Tune: The next step up with two wide-band O2 sensors and the ability to tune throughout the RPM and TP range. None of the other tuners except T'Max will do this, and T'Max isn't currently available for TBW bikes. Also, many features not available with the other players. $600 including PCV, AT modules, and O2 sensors.

HD SEST: The new version of SERT is a powerful tuner, but a dyno tune is almost mandatory. Many features, but some of them will likely not be of interest to most owners. Probably $700-800 or more including the tune.

TTS: The independent (i.e. not HD) version of SERT by the same creator, also powerful and similar to SEST. Not sure of price but around the same as SEST with a mandatory tune.

T'Max: Wide-band, auto-tuning technology like PCV-AT but limits the functions of the stock MAP sensor and has no knock-sensing capability. Unlike the PCV-AT a close base map is necessary, which may require a dyno tune. Not yet available for TBW bikes. Price is around $700-800.

V&H Fuelpak: Least expensive but limited in features and scope. Not sure of price, but could be considered an economy EFI controller.

Fuel Moto sells most of the above tuners. Call them for a no-BS explanation. Note: They will be closed Thursday and Friday since they're moving their facility.
