I will need to check that out. If you can, please provide a link. BTW, in my comparison of the ZUMO and the 765T, the ZUMO was no brighter. So both have this same issue.
Thanks.
Here is the one that I have been looking, I just have not ordered one yet. There are others on e-bay, but I like this one.
Now I am on tour with my Road Glide and Garmin 765T GPS. The GPS has been a great help getting me from here to there, and finding POIs along the way. The battery lasts only about 2 to 3 hours. So I have had it plugged into the cigar lighter on my Road Glide. The means of powering the GPS worked fine - for a while. Then the cigar lighter stopped feeding power to the GPS.
I checked the fuses, and all were fine. I would have explored the problem further if I was not on tour. So, I went to a hardware store (Truvalue) and purchased their "heavy duty" cigar lighter receptical (female part). It has a long pair of +- wires and alligator clips.
I first clipped the alligators to my RG's battery and plugged in the GPS. Worked fine. So I cut off the alligator clips and pressed on a pair of ring terminal ends to the bare wire stripped ends. Just like my old Harley, the new ones need to have a tool kit along. You never know what is going to happen, and something always does.
I connected the ring terminals to the battery and ran the cords up to the inner fairing and then to the left glove box. I used plastic ties from my tool kit to keep the wires safe. The female end of the cigar lighter just lies in the glove box. I plugged in the Garmin male end. The Garmin male end has a fuse. All works fine. At the next opportunity I am going to put a fuse on the wire from the battery under the seat, just to be on the safe side.
Its just a temporary fix. I will wire it more "elegantly" when I get home from my tour. And I will fix the stock lighter in the inner fairing of the RG. For now, the temporary fix is providing power to the GPS.

I dont know if you tried this, but you have to have the GPS plugged into the power plug on the Harley just right or it does not get a connection.
I tried the cigar lighter, pushed it in. It neither popped out nor got hot. So I concluded it was a dead power point. I have the FL manual with me and it says that to replace the cigar lighter, the front fairing has to be removed. If there is no other fix, that will have to wait until I am back from touring on my RG.
