It should have stopped with the trigger locked.Don't feel lonesome about pouring fuel all over your pride and joy.You aren't the first and you won't be the last.It does suck!
WOW! Im glad nothing ignited with the heat and all! You see this chit on tv..Just yesterday Iwas watching where a yellow Ferrari caught on fire while pumping.
Time for a good wash bro
Be safe!
Friend of mine was putting gas in his big boat and stuck it in the rod holder by mistake did not notice till it was at 80 gals (big boat also sea cat) needless to say fire dept. And hazmat involved so don,t fill so bad. Luckly his bildge pump did not work
I guess Missouri does us a favor with those danged "Boots" they have on their pumps here in the metro St. Louis area. You have to hold it up so it will pump into a motorcycle. Since you can't stick it in far enough to seat it. (It's some kind of vapor recovery system,) they say "Do not top off tanks, by penalty of law" or some crap! LOL,,,, so we couldn't lock the pump if we wanted to!
Sorry to hear, I bet you were cleaning on it for a few hours after that.....
Thanks for the heads up on that, I didn't know it. Maybe now I won't have the same experience and I no longer have to carry that bag of sand and paper towels with me.
2 years ago on a small group ride I was leading we stop at a gas station.
My whole life (since 1970) I have ALWAYS dismounted when fill my tank
when riding my bikes but one of my friends is sitting on his Dyna filling his tank.
Well he is watching the pump and not watching himself filling the bike.
Next thing I see him jumping around. His bike was dousted in gas and so
was his crotch .... LOL ....
We thought for sure his bike was going up in flames because we just rode
60 miles and since it was Summer his bike was also friggin hot.
He used their rest room to wash off some of the gas but he had
a burning crotch most of the day ..... LOL ....
Good thing none of us smoked other wise the rest stops would have been
interesting with all the gas fumes he gave off the rest of the day.
Rob .....
