Default adjustable backrest

For those who have them, Do you use the farthest setting back, or forward, or something in between?

I tend to use farthest forward setting for longer trips, as that gives the best support, then switch to farther back, just to change positions and stretch a bit. For short trips, I use the "in between" setup.

I adjust it from front to back to middle to front ... depends on solo or not, type of riding, mood, whadever else ...

... that's why I got the "adjustable" backrest

i'm currently stuck in "all the way back" because the backrest I have has a broken shock. I'm trying to determine if it's worth the $150 HD wants to replace the shock and bracket. I'm currently talking with the shock maker to see how much a replacement shock is. I'm considering making a tie rod sort of contraption to have an adjustable, locking setup so i can find the one I like.

It all varies on size and preference you have to find out where YOU like it. I'd either pitch it if it doesn't feel good or replace it.

Adjustment depends on 'other' variables....
  • How my back 'feels'
  • Traffic
  • Whether GF is on with me
  • How much I've had to EAT!

Front to back changes with conditions...length of trip. Up & Down, at times....I'll lower it. Most times, it's all the way up. That's the nice part about 'adjustable'.....

I have the HD adjustable...and often find the little 'pocket' on passenger's side comes in handy....insurance card, ciggies, xtra lighter, headset cords, etc.
