Hi Guys.
I'm thinking about buying a windshield for my RK for long trips. I've seen several threads on the forum where guys are talking about buffeting with certain windshield hieghts. I really don't want to spend a bunch of money on a windshield only to find out the ride sucks. I'm 6' tall. Can anyone reccomend how tall of a shield I should get? Thanks.
I'm not an authority by any means, and I've only got the shorty one on my Street Glide, but my Father tells me that it should be just below your line of vision so that if it's raining and you happen to be wearing a helmet you won't be looking through 2 sets of obscured vision. If that makes any sense to you.
Have a 9 1/2" clearview on my SG....I am 6"1. It is a great shield but I think I need it about 1" taller. At high speeds I do have some buffeting on the top of my head.
You should be able to ride looking over your windshield, not thru it. On the other hand, if the windshield is too low, it won't have much of an effect. There are some aftermarket windshields that offer a variation on the harley theme (slight curve at the top to direct wind over your head). I have a stock windshield on my ultra but am considering a shorter one from these guys.
Clearview ships their shields with a plastic film so you can install them, test ride with them, and exchange them if needed. I may do that because I have got to figure out a better windshield for my FLHR. The buffeting is a bigtime problem.
Looking for a shield for a Road King, right? I ask because of your initial post, and some vendors mentioned only have shields for batwing (flht) and Road Glides.

What size shield are you using now, Bluegrasser? And how tall are you?
Stock shield and I'm 6'0". I'm probably going to try a Clearview that is stock height, but has a recurve. I don't need the wind to move up much. It just barely catches the top of my helmet and rattles my head to the point of blurred vision.
