transmission grind

every once in a while my transmission grinds when downshifting to first at a stop. Could it be I'm shifting too soon ?

Grind??? doesn't sound good if you ask me....Try going to severe gear 75w140 oil see if it helps.

You could be downshifting to 1st with too many rpm's causing the grinding sound.

Maybe, first make sure the clutch is adjusted properly and you are fully pulling the lever. Second, If the speed is too fast it will clunk sometimes. If the oil in the primary is dirty or too thick when cold, it will cause a slight grind, because the clutch plates are sticking together. As suggested above, try a gear oil in the transmission. Like Mobil 1 75/140, or in my case, Redline Shockproof Heavy. It can be ordered online or bought at most off road bike and metric shops. Any and all of this will help.
