HEY HEY HEY!
I bet you figured I wouldn't see this didn't you?

This big problem with going straight to an Ultra is that the tourpak is not detachable. If you are riding solo most of the time you are not going to need that hanging there all the time.

get the ultra and dont look back..... ride in comfort , and carry what you want to... hard as heck to carry a cart full of groceries on somthn with just saddle bags... tour pack are made to be used... just another reason to leave the car at home and ride

Bottom line is she doesn't want to ride ANY bike for more than 2-3 hours without a good, long break. Your wife might be the same, and if so it might be cheaper for you to simply upgrade the seat and sissy bar on your present bike.

As far as tunes go on an RK, you can't beat an Ipod and some good earplug earphones like Etymotic.

+1 The lady I ride with loves to ride for a couple of hours and thats about it.. A 200 mile two up weekend is alot for us... I love my RKC I can take off the windshield, backrest , and luggage rack in a few minutes and ride around town. It does just fine for the one long tour a year I take

Yup, it's the convertibility that I love. For the wife it wouldn't matter if it was an Ultra. She'd rather be riding in the van with AC, no riding gear on and a cool drink in hand....

Get the UC, put on removable kit for the tour pack. That way you can take it off if you want something more sporty and put it on for taking the wife along. The Road Kings are awesome bikes, but on longer rides, the fairing on the UC instead of just a windshield keeps me from getting as tired fighting the wind.

If you can at all swing it, try to keep your Dyna. Having the luxury of two bikes is quite nice.

We went from a RKC to a Ultra. I liked the ease of changing the looks on it. But, on longer trips the batwing and extras on the Ultra are the way to go. The Ultra rides alot better 2 up. For the money I feel the ultra is the way to go, you can always have the detachable mount installed for the tour pak. OK FLAME ON, I am sorry but IMHO I think the classic tour pak ruins the looks of the entire bike, at least the ultra tour pak breaks up the design with the extra lights. You can easly convert the Ulras tour pak lights from running/stop lights to turn signals also. It is a tough decision, wonder what the 2010's will offer?

i've had good experiences with my streetglide, but to do it again, i'd have gotten the road glide. i do dig my batwing, but i think the roadie is a better choice all around.
