beer can shims really do work!! but if you want a more permanant fix, bring the slip-ons and headers to muffler shop. they can expand or shrink the componets slightly for a tight fit.
Had a similar poblem FXDL. I moved the clamps flush with the distal edge of the pipes to get maximum "squeezeage" on the pipe. Never had to worry about it again.
Could also try JB Weld but then they would not be slip-ons anymore!!! YMMV!
It sounds like your clamps are stretched beyond the limit from tightening them so much. Id start with new ones then recheck them. Dont over torque them and you should be fine.
