Just curious....I put on a set of Bub7 TD about a month or so ago.....Ordered stage one AC and PCV and installed the other day and all I can say is WOW! a very noticeable difference. bike runs alot better, cooler and seems alot smoother.
no heres the weird part....I bought the Bub 7s and put them on...I didn't change out the AC at the time so no need for fuel mgmt at that time. well the Bubs were very loud. ordered the quiet baffles and toned them down to a nice sound. well I just installed the AC and PC and now my exhaust got quieter....sounds like the factory pipes are back on....my GF even said something about it.....sounds almost HONDAish,,,,wtf??
so now I'm thinking of putting the original baffles back in so I can hear it running again.
does that sound right? (no pun intended.....lol)
I put a PCV on my 09 RK w/ Rush slip ons w/ 2.25 baffles...runs good / smooth, but yeah, kind of sounds 'singerish' to me...I'm told it's the catalytic converter in the head pipes (I'm in So Cal)...not sure if this applies to your sitch...but that's what I'm being told...
When I added the PCV to my bike with the AC the sound got a little deeper. Makes sense that the sound would change if the fuel mixture changed but I am not sure why it would get quieter. Interesting post though.
Had Hooker Troublemakers on my wife's Softail Deluxe with the stock AC. Last weekend I put a SE AC and a PC V on it. She took it out for a ride and came back raving about the power and responsiveness changes but said it was quieter. I think there is something to your question.
I have the same setup on my 09 RK (So. Calif), I get that "sewing machine" ticking-tapping sound also.
