All these home brews seem like they may work but why not just but some bug & tar remover spray. There are plenty on the market that work great, fast, wont strip wax. I use one that has also has a wax additive in it.
Probably because that can get expensive after awhile! Peroxide is pretty cheap in comparison (you can get a gallon of it at Walgreens for under $1).
I typically use this stuff called The Bom on my bike. For a quick clean it works pretty well. For a more detailed clean I wash normally, do a spot dry, use The Bom, then wax it up.
Don't be so cheap and go buy some decent bug remover spray. One large bottle for less than 8$ gets me through bug season. Even H-D bug remover isn't that expensive.
Hydrogen Peroxide mixed 50% water - spray it on and wait a minute - the bugs just melt off. Its very cheap and works very well and it won't strip wax like Dawn & Simple Green.
