Laconia bike week was in full swing Wednesday. Seems like it is going to be the only non-rainy day. So seven of us hit the road to take the ride to the sky. Climbing Mt. Washington. You have to do it at least once. Scary for those who are scared of heights. But what a great way to make you feel alive. Great day, beautifull weather. Visibilty was outstanding. Here are a few shots from the top. This is me with our friends daughter, her first time to bike week, and on top of Mt. Washington.
We are supposed to ride up there next week but are now considering heading south to avoid the never ending rain but those pics make we wanna say F*** it and just go!
Now this just ticks me off. We rode to Laconia & talked about Mt. Washington but ran out of time. Looks like it was the perfect day. I'm hoping the weather cooperates for one of the sunrise climbs. That will likely be a solo trip as no one wants to leave at 2:00am.
the rice bike OA I ride with (www.zrxoa.com) went last year and we have plans to go next weekend. We will be there the same time as the mini cooper rally. I want to tip a mini over but I digress.
I have never been scared so schitless in my life as I was last year when we went up. clear and 60 at the bottom of the road, 4 minutes into the ride I couldn't see the bike in front of me. I had to take off my glasses and keep the face shield open just to see past my front wheel in the fog.
Did I mention the traffic heading at us too?
If you ride Mt Washington on a bagger ( admit it guys crappy brakes and 820+ pounds) you deserve a set of brass ***** and my respect.
Maybe it's different during bike week when they close it to cars a couple of days.
I rode my new FLHX up yesterday and enjoyed the blue skies and awesome weather. Clear days on top of Mt Washington are rare and one where you are able to walk around in a short sleeve T-shirt is even rarer.
Wife and I went up 3 summers ago....she was totally freaked out scared.
She couldn't enjoy the view as she WOULD NOT look out over the side.
Lost the rear brakes coming down, but decided not to tell her until after
we reached bottom and the brakes cooled off a bit.
