Mine has done that since new. April 06, have about 3000k on it. Only serviced at the dealer. I thought it was normal. Only in first gear also.

spring pressure not equal....pressure plate with abberations on it(warped or uneven machine work)...plate or plates coming apart....steels with hot spots...adjusted to tight(when it warms up things expand and want to drag, that will create hot spots on the steels and they promote chatter & slip)...improper oil fill...improper oil...plates & steels not fully seated in the basket...

take it apart and look...clutches are real easy

an out of adjustment clutch that causes grabby or chatter starts will hot spot .

Install a VPC pressure plate and you will get better clutch action,an easier pull at low speeds and longer clutch life!

jeep...can you explain the VPC and what it does to me please....i read the link....does it increase clamping force or just a fancy easy pull

It increases clamping force and makes the pull easier. It has centrifical weights that increase pressure with rpm. It will increase your clutch life and eliminate slippage. Sorry didn't answer sooner been out of town.

My 06 Roadglide has done the exact same thing since 200 miles. Still does it now with 2200 miles. Dealer said its normal.

It's either a warped pressure plate or weak disc springs......

Since this only happens when hot, i guess we can eliminate weak disc springs, right?

Hey Gary, read my other post and u will see that the dealer has got me in a spot..Yesterday they were giving me the bike back fixed but was not and other issues now unsolved..GRRRRRR
