I had the same thing happen on my '06 Goldwing when it was only 6 months old. I was convinced the battery was good because I tested the voltage and charging system. The only problem was, I could not test the cranking power. After having the battery load tested I found the battery was bad and had it replaced under warranty.
Don't ever assume because the charging system is working and the voltage is good that the battery is ok.
Because of this forum and this thread specifically, some time back I had this very issue. Starter bolts only finger tight...WTF? I found the problem when I heard an awful noise from the starter then nothing....remembered this thread and thought I'd just check. Sure nuff, tightened to Darren's torque specs. No more problems.
I know what I will be doing when I get home tonight...
Crown and Ginger....inspect started bolts. Obviously a one hour job.
3 minutes to inspect and adjust if needed...
57 minutes to enjoy a nice beverage and quiet time in the garage!

I found that the clicking wasn't my starter the whole problem was the copper L bracket that mounts onto the battery was loose and not making contact. I tightened that up and have had no problems. Now i have a brand new starter that I picked up on Ebay as a backup if i ever need one. Hope this helps

I took out the starter, cleaned the flange mating surfaces, it did look like there was a bit of corrosion built up. Put the starter back in and still nothing.

Reason: To cover up what an idiot I was.
Went back and changed the battery no my FOB. Victory! I have two FOB's...both batteries were dead! Lots of trouble to find that out. Make Certain the FOB battery is good...then start troubleshooting.
