Then I will do a Stage 1 first so I can see if that solves my problem, and to also give me comparision later when I add the cams.

So, I went ahead and ordered Andrews 26H cams, will also have quick install SE pushrods/kit installed - saves having to remove the tank, etc. I'll have my Thundermax remapped for the new set-up.

Andrews 26H Cams
Quick Install SE Pushrod Kit
Cam Gaskets
3 hours labor

Total cost = $700

Getting installed end of next week - will update on the results - can't wait! We'll be taking our anniversary ride thought the Wallowa Mountains in Eastern Oregon a few days later, then I'm solo to Sturgis a few weeks later.

Edgerider, I just installed the Andrews 26H a couple weeks ago.

A friend and I did it in only 3 beers time. Installed the AN Big sucker and tuned using the SEST and Mr. Wizards PC. I am not sure about the horse power gains but you better hang on to the handle bars. Huge gain.

When I say "Stage 1" I refer to it generically as the first upgrade step. It can be HD's "Stage 1" download or an aftermarket EFI controller, always with freer-flowing mufflers and AC.

A Stage 1 download from HD will cost ~$150 and it won't provide much of a performance improvement, and if you decide to go with a real EFI controller later it will be money that's wasted, as it won't add anything positive after that point in time. Add pipes and AC from your HD dealer and you'll likely pay more than a Power Package from Fuel Moto, which will give you a real EFI controller, AC, and Jackpot mufflers--not to mention a real performance gain. I know I plug this package too often around here for some, but I really believe it is the best Stage 1 package available, especially if cost is factored into the equation. The whole package is about $670. In reality, there are many other rabid Fuel Moto fans on this forum.

There is no mention of the hydro-clutch in the catalog description, so I assume it works with either. I don't have the h/d spring and am having no problems, so I would suggest trying it with the stocker first. Don't use any slick synthetic oil in the primary, as any ATF or fossil engine oil will do fine.

Could be the tuner, but a widely respected tuner and builder of hi-perf HD products (not Fuel Moto) told me the D&D Fatcat produced a lag in the low-end that was hard to tune out, so maybe that's the problem. I can't say, as I have no experience with them. The consensus is that 2-into-1 systems produce the best power curve and DT's will decrease low-end to some extent. Call Fuel Moto for more info on this, as they have dyno-tuned every configuration imaginable. Their DT Jackpots provide near-2>1 performance using stock head pipes for a much lower cost. Also, you say you lost TQ, but where was the loss? In the low-end or midrange? DT's are notorious for causing loss in the low-end.

Thank you for the info. My Harley goes back on the Dyno tomorrow morning just for 3 pulls. My Harley was on this Dyno 3 years ago, so I am looking to see what the change is from everything that I have done in the past 3 yrs. I can see a long post coming on with a lot of things that I have done and where I am at with it.

Right now the bike is running pretty good. Seems like a different bike with the D&D Fatcat but I also think that part of it is because of the sound difference in pipes too.

I had to correct my reply that you referred to. I said "No, SE's are strictly bolt-in with no other mods needed...." I should've said "SE255's" instead of "SE's" since some SE cams require heavier valve springs, etc. The SE255's as well as some other SE's require no other mods.

Have you posted your results anyplace? Are you satisfied with your upgrades? I am very grateful to have a friend help me install mine.
I can't imagine the bike running any better than it does now
