For those of you that installed the chrome bezels on the gauges of a batwing or shark nose. Did you use the supplied tape or did ya toss that in favor of something else like clear silicone.
I tried the tape at first then got aggrevated because my sausage fingers couldn't get the "backing" off the tape....and the one gauge i did manage to use the tape for I wasn't comfortable with how it felt when I put it on.
solution? I used the clear silicone........a hell of alot easier!
I just put a small amount into the ring's channel and applied the ring....held a lil pressure on it for a min and WHOLA!!
just make sure you clean the surfaces first with a alcohol pad first and let dry.
silicone is also waterproof so no need to worry when they get wet
I used the supplied tape in the first instance but the bezels would not stick. I think maybe it was too cold at the time. I removed it and used heavy duty double sided tape instead and it worked a treat.
After reading pros & cons about the tape....I wiped the edges with an alchohol wipe, placed dabs of silicone around the rings, then placed on the gauges. When dried, I trimmed the silicone. Worked GREAT!!!
