TexasXenite,

Welcome to the forum from the Alamo city.

For me coming off of an 08 Street Bob to an 09 Street Glide my crotch used to burn big time until I got the K&N air filter with an open element along with some Rush w/2.0 baffles and a stage 1 download.

On the Street Glide now even with the heat here in Texas the only thing that gets hot is my right knee being right up against the air cleaner cover.

Bought a set of soos's 3/4" extensions so I hope that will do the trick until I can come up with the cash to buy some more Rush slip on's and install the K&N filter and the download.

You can also try these.... clear, smoked or black. Saw them on a rental Ultra in blacked. Looked good and the gur riding it said all was fine.

Dumb question, but have you turned on the EITMS on your bike?

Thanx for any help!
TexasXenite,

I routinely ride in 90-115 degree Outside Air Temp (OAT); like your ’09 Ultra, mine too was running way to hot. On a 105 OAT day, my oil temp was indicating 298 degrees!

I installed a:
ü Fuel Commander V by MotoFuel (to richen up the mixture)
ü Stage One AC
ü Vance & Hines Slip-ons
ü Jagg FLH 10 row oil cooler (runs 40% cooler than stock 4 row H.D. cooler)
ü Big Sky Oil Cooler Fan
ü Red Line 20W60 Synthetic Oil

Now on a recent 105 degree day, the highest oil temp was 248 degrees (still a tad higher than H.D's 230 but 50 degrees cooler than before) and no leg burn!

I don’t believe that there is a single “one Answer” fix to the running hot problem but the combination of all of the above solved my problem and I am ecstatic!

Stay safe out there!!!!

Jim

According to most of the posts on this forum, each one of your checked items will lower oil temp 20 degrees. I agree with you that it is probably a combination of all, but the oil cooler fan is your best "cooler".

Free is a relative concept, hon. Probably more accurate to say it is included in the price of the bike.

And yes, I turn on the EITMS every time I straddle her. Which is probably unnecessary but I started that from day one with this bike. I wanted to make it a habit so I didn't forget. I don't really do a lot of riding around town unless I'm riding to/from work but I just figure it's safer with all the construction going on in and around Weatherford just now. Sometimes coming back in from a ride we get caught up in construction traffic. One day last summer (I was still on the Deluxe then) we were stopped in a long line of traffic and I nearly fainted from the heat - not just weather heat of course, truck and other vehicle exhaust, pavement all around, exhaust from construction equipment, etc. That was a new one for me and scared me pretty thoroughly; I do everything I can to avoid that section of town on the bike (more construction going on there), but I do have to go through there once in awhile.

+1 on Capt. Itch's message. I recently bought a crotch cooler from him (paid full price) and it definitely works to protect your theighs from the heat.

Did you know that once you turn the EITMS on it stays on until you turn it off? Before you can turn it on everytime you get on the bike you would first need to turn it off every time also.

I looked at those, but the bike has one similar already on it - came with the bike. I was thinking of trying Captain Itch's product because it seemed larger.
