A frind of mine bought an Ultra and drilled holes in the end of his baffles. It was louder and ran fine, but it sounded "tinny." Not a good sound. He ended up buying a full system from FuelMoto at a great price and installing it himself.

Especially changing the exhaust.... i wouldn't screw with them too much as far as drilling out the baffles...What is something happens and you have to take the bike in for warranty work???? just saying it might affect the outcome of the willingness of the dealer to work with you....wait and be patient and buy the right stuff for the bike...Don't pay 20k dollars for a perfectly good bike and monkey it up with drill bits'''''MY $.02

Hey if you're that strapped, ride it for a year and enjoy it while at the same time put some $$$$$$$ back every payday for a new exhaust. (handlebars,stage 1,new seat and of course alot of chrome)

Yeah, this sounds like the most likely scenario -- spouse imposed poverty. If the guy was truly poor, he be insane to spend his last 20K on a bike and he probably wouldn't qualify for credit (unless he was buying a home in the 90's).

I say leave the bike alone for now or shop eBay and have parts shipped to your work instead of your home

. If you go assing up your only pipes, you're screwed if they don't come out OK.
