High idle question

I have a ’08 EG with about 18,000 miles on it. Twice now since the dealer downloaded the improved software to prevent the throttle blip caused high idle problem, I have had the high idle problem. I did not have the problem before.

I don’t have the habit of blipping the throttle before I turn off the engine. I use the kill switch to turn off the engine and then the ignition switch.

Now as I write this it has occurred to be that my wife was riding with me both times. I usually have her get on or off the bike when the engine is off and I am on the bike holding the it upright. Perhaps I have the throttle turned slightly when I started the engine. I would have used the front brake to keep the bike from rolling as my wife got on.

So, my question is: Can the high idle problem be caused at start up or has it been only a shut down problem?
