I recently traded my 03 Fat Boy for a 2009 SG. I struggled with the decision and finally pulled the trigger a couple months ago. I thought I would really miss the FB but wanted fairing, tunes, better ride at highway speeds, etc. I don't miss the Fat Boy at all. The only thing that takes getting used to is the vibrations at idle. Bike shakes so much, the vibrations opened up my saddlebags once. Overall, I love the bike and not looking back.
What ever you do "do not take a test ride on a Touring bike". If you like riding, you will then be forced to trade for one.
I had just finished decking out an '07 Fat Boy with all the bells and whistles (a year and a half project), then I stupidly rode a Road King during one of my dealers "test Ride Days" and I didn't get two miles down the road and I knew I was going to trade.
I test rode and 09 ultra and yep trading y fatboy in tomorrow in a perfect world I would keep it and buy a new one but cant justify having 2 bikes at this time but I sure would like it
