Default Softail to Bagger

Being a softail owner I've always wondered how much more compliant the ride is on a tourer. I'm sure there's a ton of you that have made the switch. So is it like riding in a Cadillac? You can hit railroad tracks without feeling them? Just curious.

You still feel railroad tracks. I went from a Softail Custom to a Road King Custom. I'm not sure it is that much more comfortable but it is a different feel. You should rent one and see what you think.

I tell everyone that the Deuce is my Corvette and the Road King is the Cadillac

Wow, not the responses I thought I was going to get. I just figured that with the air ride and all it was like riding in a big ole rolling easy chair, but I guess not.

I'd say there is quite a differance in comfort. The ride is softer just by design of the shocks but alot of is also the frame. When I ride my Tourer, I really have a hard time calling it a day. Seams like I could ride forever. More fun? not at all, just different.

I have an 06 Softail Std and an 06 Streetglide. One big difference is the feel of the motor under you with the SG being rubber mounted and the Softail being counter balanced. They are both fun but I agree with Lucky 13 they are just different, keep your Softail and buy a bagger also.

I agree that the biggest change for you will be the vibration at idle. I have friends with softails and you can't tell they're running at idle. The motor in my bike shakes like a wet dog.

What ever you do "do not take a test ride on a Touring bike". If you like riding, you will then be forced to trade for one.

I had just finished decking out an '07 Fat Boy with all the bells and whistles (a year and a half project), then I stupidly rode a Road King during one of my dealers "test Ride Days" and I didn't get two miles down the road and I knew I was going to trade.
