Default Muffler rubber mount

Noticed for a while that there is a little play in my right muffler rubber mount. This morning after a few years noticed that my left muffler has no play. I'm assuming the play on right side is for added pressure? Should right side rubber mount 07 RKC have play?

The right side pipe has a straighter path with the p clamp at the transmission keeping things fastened down pretty good. The rear pipe or left side only has the clamp at the starter bracket before entering the rubber mount. I'd say the p clamp provides much more rigidity and stability than the left side clamp. Being rubber, you would get more wear and therefore more play. You can replace them fairly inexpensively. If they get really hard, they may begin to squeek some too

Hope this helps

Bubba

Thanks guys. The rubber mounts look and feel good. My question was more to whether Harley engineered a bit of looseness to the right muffler rubber mount. I'm talking about a space on side of mount about a match book cover or less.

My right was tight and the left loose. Go figure.

After a couple of years the rubber gets hard and then will start squeaking and at the most inopportune time. Besides a saddlebag pin and spare sparkplug this rubber is the other part I have in my toolkit.

We use silicone spray or WD-40 to cure the squeekiness of the rubber mounts. Seems to fix the problem.
