I see that Harley has a software download for thier Advanced Audio System. If you have a software version lower than 8.19.0 they suggest you update your software. Does anyone know EXACTLY what the new software does that the previous version doesn't? I didn't check my version yet, but when I do should I download the new software if my version is lower???? even though my system is GREAT as is!
Version 6.8 or 7.8 are the only versions that are a must update. Those two versions had potential lock up conditions. 8.9 and 8.11 addressed some internal timing functions that may or may not be visible to the user. Software downloads via disc can be tricky, especially if your downloading and burning on your own. If you have 8.9 or 8.11 and everything seems fine...leave well enough alone.
I will check my version when I get home....but I am EXTREMELY happy with the radio!! I mostly listen to my ipod or sirius radio......thank goodness for the AUX input
I noticed that in one of the pics in the above link there were options to test your audio system. mine has had an ongoing problem of not reaching full volume except only for a short "blip" then returning to about 3/4 level. the volume bar still shows it to be at full volume but it isn't. I've taken it back to the dealer and the radio was replaced only to have the same problem come back. dealer says that there's nothing wrong as they cannot duplicate it (aka they don't want to mess with it) just wondering if I can do this myself and possibly fix the problem.

Will it go to full volume when you're sitting still? If so, it's probably working properly. I think it's supposed to regulate the volume at speed so as to provide the clearest sound, not necessarily the loudest. Mine does it too.
I checked and I have v7.18...but I am not getting any problem...so I think I am going to leave it alone.....I know it is a PITA to try and load it....sometimes you can do more harm then good
