Default SG or RKC

How are ya my lil touring buddies??? Just a lil background, I currently have an 06 Heritage Softail Classic. Luv it, nothing wrong with it, like the styling a lot. I would like to trade it in however, for a touring bike. I guess I just would like to hear some input from the touring owners to get some feedback as I would like to add more power, a six speed tranny, true duals, etc. To do this on my current bike, it would cost as much as it would to trade and buy new.

I've always liked the styling of the RKC as it reminds me a lot of the Heritage in styling but I am digging the low slammed look of the SG. Any thoughts would be appreciated and hope to see ya on the road soon!

Just to help you out a little. If you do a search you'll get alot of threads on this exact subject. My input is i was also debating sg/rkc at one time.Opted for the rkc because i didnt want to get stuck with a fairing and i liked the color option i got with my rkc.The rkc is so much more versatile(windshield off or on).You can also lower the rkc if you want that slammed look.I have some low profile shocks that i havent had time to put on yet to lower mine somewhat. Both bikes are great sg you get tunes of course which is something that puts people over the hump in deciding.

They named it "King" for a reason!! Personally I love the versatility of windshield on/off but I don't think you can go wrong with either bike.

I saved up for three years to by my bike. Just picked up an 09 RKC about a month ago. For 3 years I went back and forth SG or RKC....I think alot of us do.
It finally came down to......
I don't remember what it came down to really, but whatever decision you make will be YOUR decision for whatever reason.
I rode both and loved them both.
I am 100% happy with my RKC. I love the versatility. I like the connection with the road and the wind. The feel.

If you want a stereo, get the SG. If not, then get the Road King. Aside from the fairing and stereo they are nearly the same bike.

Rk has cruise, passing lamps and passenger floorboards. Also has the versatility of shield on/off or adding a quick release fairing.

When I bought my '05 RKC the SG wasn't even an option however I did spent a lot of time at the dealer picking and choosing. I'm extremely happy with the RKC and have set it up where it can be anything from a stripped down "hopper" all the way to a full bagger (including tunes and gauges) all using quick-connections.

Personally, if I found myself at the point of making another decision, I'd still go with the RKC

Ya know, that's what I LOVED about the Heritage too is I can take the shield off, also the bags and she's a Fatboy with big fenders. I really do like the versatility. As far as tunes go, only if I'm on a long roadie and then it's usually the Ipod. How does the RKC do when lowered. For those that have done that, easy to scrape or do ya bottom out a lot?

I just went through the same decision making process a couple weeks ago. I had a 2008 Ultra and I just didn't like it so I sold it and went shopping. I couldn't make up my mind between a sg and a rkc. I've always wanted an old school looking bike with spokes, white walls, and apes but I also liked the radio and locking hard bags. I sat in a chair at the dealership staring at both of them for over an hour. I guess you can tell which one I decided to buy! It goes from a touring bike to a stripped down sweet cruiser in just seconds!

Once I put on the apes and braided cables I was completely speechless. I absolutely love my bike!!
