Default Soft Front Brake Question

I'm trying (once again) to get the play out of my front brake lever, and last night, I tried the 'tying your brake lever overnight' trick. According to what I've read, i should tap the lines from the calipers up with a screwdriver handle to try and dislodge any bubbles. I know this is probably a stupid question, but I just want to be sure, I should untie the lever before tapping right?

No, leave the lever tied. Process would be to tie up lever and turn bars so master cylinder is at the highest point. Wait a few minutes and tap from caliper to master cylinder. Repeat a few minutes later.
Come back the next day and remove the tie and slowly release the lever. This should bring air bubbles back into fluid resevoir.

Take care,
Dave

Thanx Dave.
so it sounds like I did it slightly wrong because I just tied the lever and left it overnight without tapping first. what now?

Do it again tonight, I guess? Or tap it now and release the lever later today.

Take care,
Dave
