Default torque??? 09 vs 10

ok like everyone else i was gitty over the 103 yesterday. but here`s my quandary.

the 10 has a tq rating of 102
the 09 has a tq rating of 92 from HD`s specs pages

then i look at the SE racing book and they have dyno charts of the stock 96 TC it ha tq at apx 78.

My ?? is the tq listed on the specs sheet on the hd site is rated at the crank?

the se book says numbers taken at the rear wheel.
why would the same company measure in different spots .

I have to agree, I would post the most impressive numbers as well to the general public in order to attract the most interest. I'm sure it is completely legal to do so although it does call into question some of the ethics involved in business marketing.

If you go to the HD website and look at the spec. sheet the TQ. is measured at the crank,it states ENGINE TQ 102.

Specs can always be deceiving. Muscle cars of the 60s played all sorts of games. One set of numbers for to beat the competition and then when the insurance companies got involved the numbers went way down for the same engine.

Power ratings for stereo, hi-fi amplifiers and today's home-theaters, same thing. Just a joke.

Rear wheel tourque, across the power band is what counts. Even peak Tq is meaningless if it doesn't come on till high rpm.

i have been looking in the SE racing catalog at the dyno sheets there the 113 kit has 120tq & hp tq is at 4500 and hp at 5500rpm it is a solid ramp from 2500. i know some are down on thease kits but why? the dyno is rear wheel and it has all the parts needed to work together from one place. and the dealer can install it. seams good for me.
