How many miles?
I can remember the days (and it wasn't that long ago) when a used HD would cost the same if not more than a new bike simply because it was available. There were long waiting lines for the new ones. Having a Harley back then was like having money in the bank. But no more - their resale tanks nearly as fast as jap bikes do, sorry to say.
I find people paranoid about keeping something old including automobiles and motorcycles. As soon as their car gets 50,000 miles on it, they are ready to trade. Even though their car is in pristine condition. Lots of people consider a motorcycle with 10,000 miles....too many miles. Car needs news brakes and tires....quess I'll just buy a new car.
Some people just cannot be content with what they got. Always have to keep up with the Jones.....hell I don't even know the Jones's.
My wife like many other people consider SUV's a status symobol. If you own a SUV, this means you are successful. If this was true, how come I see plenty of SUV's with "CARMART" tags on them. Plenty of buy-here-pay-here decals on these vehicles. Obviously, these people were not that sucessful and status does not mean crap when your credit is taint. Thank God they don't sell Harley's at CARMART.
All my bikes are 1998 models the highest mileage is about 150,000 miles and the lowest is about 40,000 miles. They simply don't wear out, when something breaks on it....fix it and keep riding. I throw money at these rides from time to time to keep them going...but that is still cheaper than making payments on one.
