checking to see if others have similar problem, my black hot toppers are splitting and falling off. at first it was only one or two which I thought may have been installed on the wrong bolt. but now over time nearly every single one is now split/cracked. it is almost as if the wrong type of plastic was used in the manufacture and they are failing as a result of the plastic being cooked by engine tempratures and becoming brittle.
at their cost this failure is pretty dissapointing.
I purchased a used 08 FLTR with black toppers installed. no registration equals no warranty. I guess I could go out and buy another set, register them, wait for them to fail, and then finally get warranty. sheesh!!
I have never had problems with the chrome ones and was asking for reports of simialr problems for the black ones cracking/splitting. warrenteed or not, if a common problem I would not buy any more black ones.
Hot ToppersŽ are USA made chrome bolt covers that friction fit over American standard fasteners. Hot ToppersŽ can be placed on as many as 250 spots on your motorcycle.
