Yesterday on my way home from work I rounded a bend at approximately 50mph and my right board touched on my Ultra....I nearly $hit myself because not only did I feel it rubbing but at one point it felt as though it actually lifted the bikes rear. I have heard many jolks about black guys not going pale but I would bet the bank that I was as pale as Michael Jackson for a brief moment.
Sounds like you may have leaned it over far enough that it lifted the back tire? Glad you are ok, and don't sweat it, the rest can be fixed, or replaced!
yeah, what he said. You've also lowered it an inch, and that reduces the lean angle even more. Besides that tinny sound of the floorboards scraping, they also start rolling up on you. A little farther and you should then start hearing the heavier, deeper tones of frame and brackets grinding. Push the bar down a little harder and away she goes...
I am definatly going to raise the boards to the highest setting. Intersetingly enough, I had just bought HDGoodies board extensions but had not installed them yet.
Just so you know that when you push out your boards it will also be pushing out the mount which will also scrape a lot sooner now. It is hard mounted to the bike and if that hits the ground IT WILL LIFT THE REAR TIRE!! I have 1" extened boards and while riding the Dragon, that happened to me. But luckily my old motorcross skills kicked in and I planted my foot and was able to save it. Very scary moment sure.. Glad I didn't break my leg or twist my foot off..

That is some scary sounding crap. I won't modify anything that mucks up the ground clearance on my Harley. You do what you want to.
Glad your ok, if you're going to turn hard enough to scrape hard parts you should slide your butt off the seat to the inside of the corner. This will make it possible to take the turn just as fast but with less lean angle. If you ever watch road racing, this is what they do. I'm not suggesting you drag your knee, just get some weight to the inside.
