I just replaced the Harley Radio in my 02 Ultra with a Sony radio and Biketronics adapter. The Sony has a direct connect for the Ipod. I just put the Ipod in the Tour Pack and can control it from the handlebar controls, and the Ipod is being charged at the same time.
I love it!

I don't believe you will be able to use the touch on your bike for Sirius radio, it is wifi only, I have a touch I like it most of the time, the one thing I don't like about it is other then turning it on with the button on the top, and changing the volume with the side buttons you have to have your gloves off, you cant even slide to unlock the thing with your gloves on, so it is hard to start, stop, and change songs wile on the road.

Well crap. Didn't even think about that. Scratch that idea. You just saved me some money.

now tell me this, i just got the imac computer a month or so ago, and have downloaded a couple dozen of my favorite cd's in to itunes. they will download off my computer via a usb cable to the correct format into the ipod nano? i'm pretty new to this sort of music transfer, and can't even figure out how to make an mp3 disc. oh well, another trip to the apple store. from what i understand the ipod nano is a flash drive rather than a hard drive like the ipod classic? please straighten my line of thinking out with this issue, i don't want to go get the wrong thing. the ipod will also plug into the mini jack in the front of the new hk radio to feed it with the ipods' signal? charging the ipod will be another issue. i think i need to have a sit down discussion with the guys at the apple store, again.

I use a 2gb sansa clip. it is about 1/2 the size of a zippo and has a screen to tell you what song is playing. Paid about $30 for it 2 yrs ago and use it often so for a disposable player it is perfect. I double stick tape it to the dash and use a 6" cord to the radio. The clip is removable so it stays stuck to the dash and i remove the player and cord and lock it up whenever i stop somewhere. Charge last me a week.

I dunno I have the iPhone, and it "Syncs" with the iTunes on my PC whenever I dock it to the PC. Doing this it also downloads, off-loads or uploads whatever photos I've taken with the phone, and updates any of the apps on the phone that need updating. I gotta imagine the Nano would synch with the iTunes without any problem.

First the nano is basically a flash drive. No internal moving parts. No hard drive. No chance of damage due to vibration. The nano is better to use on the bike.

When you "rip" a cd using or download music from itunes it is already in the correct format for the nano. Which is acc format. That format will not play on an regular mp3 player or a cd player that plays mp3 discs. If you want to burn an mp3 cd you need to convert your acc files into mp3 format using a program that re-encodes your files. Or you can re-rip them in itunes with the import settings to mp3 format. You get there by going to edit - preferences - general tab - import settings button. In the import using drop down select mp3 encoder and in the setting use 128kbs. Or you can rip at a higher quality like 192kbs. But for the bike and mp3 players 128kbs is more than adequate.

I have the ipod touch and an iphone. I do have a Garmin GPS on the bike that can play mp3's however I notice that the sound quality is really not all that.

If I use the ipod I put it in the windshield pocket and run the cord across around and back underneath the handlebar and into the aux input. Stays fairly clean. I put a piece of soft foam in the bottom of the windshield pocket so I don't have any issues with the ipod harddrive getting bumped and skipping or resetting.

One thing I spend about 60 bucks on was a wireless remote for the ipod. Has a module that plugs into the bottom, and a control about the size of a car's remote. It has a mount that it clips into and can be velcroed to the handle bar...starts, stops, skips forward or backward, along with a lot of other functions (volume, etc.) so you don't have to fool with the ipod.
