Don't know about the 2010's yet 'cause I haven't seen them but if you have a USB ready head unit or (even better) a front USB you can load your music onto a simple thumb drive ($10) and dispense with the Ipod thing altogether and your hand controls will operate it.
That's exactly the next mod I'm doing to my '06.

Nano and touch are flash based. Get yourself a nano, a gilbos440rt mount and be done with it. Sound quality should be cd quality as long as you rip the cds at least 192kbps. I do mine at 320.

I have a 16gb nano and got some industrial velcro and velcroed it to the fairing. Didn't like the look on the handlebars.

I'm using the 32g iPhone...didn't like the RAM mount, so I bought a $15 snap in case with an attached swivel belt clip...turned the clip sideways and cable-tied to the bars, within reach form the throttle hand...

160gb iPod, stuffed to the gills with music and playlists, plugged into the *** lighter and a lead going into the radio Aux socket...and then stuffed into the lower pocket.

It's doing me fine although I'd like to mount it on the bars so I need to find some vendor of mounting stuff.

Suggestions?

I'm using a 2gb Shuffle with a 1 foot cord. A piece of velcro on the back and another on the inner fairing above and between the speedometer and tach, and the cord routed around the outside edge of the radio. You can't play all the music without recharging it is the only drawback to the Shuffle. Personally, I don't need/want a iPod with a display as it may be a distraction to look at the screen when riding. The Shuffle is a simple device and you can skip, fast forward, and adjust the volume with it. The lower the volume setting on the Shuffle, the longer the battery will last. I generally get about 5-6 hours of continuous use before the battery goes South. I bought a cig lighter-USB thingy that I can use to charge it while on the road and when at a hotel I also have a Radio Shack 120v-12vdc that I plug the cig lighter deal into. Your mileage may vary...

I too use the 2 mb Shuffle. Except I mount mine directly on the left handlebar right next to my controls with a velcro strap running through the build in clip on the back of the Shuffle. Very easy to change songs with the iPod controls right by my left hand, so I don't even need to take my eyes off the road. Furthermore, if it is stolen etc. its only about 70 bucks to replace it. No expensive mounting hardware either. I however get better play time then Olde Skool at around 8 hours before charging is required.

Went to wally world and picked up a 45 dollar ipod shuffle. Holds more then 200 songs which lasts me more then a day. Take a small peice of velcro and wrap it around the left side mirror shaft and clip the I pod over the velcro. Can easily reach it with my left finger. Wrap the wire neatly around the handlebar and you are done.

Just don't forget to turn the Ipod off when you are done riding or stopped as the battery will go dead since it is still running even though you can not hear muisic.
