I have a 2001 Electraglide. I'm also 6'10" and need to do something about my leg position. I would like to extend and tilt the floorboards on both sides. Anybody have any ideas on how to do this. Actually, my first question: 1. Is there an aftermarket company that sells parts for this? 2. I can fab just about anything... mig, tig, steel, aluminum... etc. etc. Anybody ever do this before? It would be great to get a pic or an idea.
Throw down for a set of Kuryakyn Cruiseboards for the crash bar and get extended pedal and shift arms. Another option would be www.accutronix.com extended forward controls, very cool!
i had the same prob...i took the boards off and fabbed a half inch spacer and got longer bolts...now i'm figurin on how to move em forward...the 1/2" out really helped tho...if you look at the bottom of the board pan i spose you could put the braces on the backside of the groove...the rear one would stick out tho...or you could cut the bracket close to the pan and weld an extension in there...you'd just have to paint or powdercoat it...the day i had em off and was lookin, the welder was out of gas or it'd be done already
I'm thinking that I'd like to fab something in the 3 inch range and with the front of the board tilted up a bit. Also might fab up some rods that your heal can rest against. I know that there is an extended break arm and that it's also adjustable. That may be in order as well.
The biggy on the right side is the break resevoir. I'll have to come up with something. Powder Coat won't be a problem, as I do it myself. The Left sid will be less tricky (I hope) because the shifter arms can be lengthend and shortened respectively. Maybe I'll do it and post some pics so that other freaks of nature can see what to do.
I am 6' 5", and used extended brake, shifter, and floorboards from Bubba's Brake. 2" forward. Quality stuff. There is a tilt adjustment for the floorboards on baggers. I also have a Corbin solo seat that moved me back and down. Pegs mounted low on the engine guard. Different bars from Wild 1 on my RG completes my "vertically gifted" adjustments. Lowers are not an option. I'm very comfortable, but my mech. has to sit up on the rear of the tank to test ride my bike.
