Requesting 408F at 200 Miles?

Requesting 408F at 200 Miles?
Is there any reason to request warranty replacement of a D407F to a D408F as early as 200 miles before any cupping is apparent? Or is it better just to wait for the cupping and change to a D408F at that time?

I had ~8500 miles on mine and it was really bad, still took me calling the MOCO and complaining to three different people before I found one who would give me a case number and referred me back to the dealer.
Dealer looked at it and said, I have three new 407s in stock, or I can order a 408 for you. My 408 is supposed to be in early next week.

Based on the discussion I had with my dealer and with the MOCO directly, your going to have to wait to prove that the tire cups.
I had ~8500 miles on mine and it was really bad, still took me calling the MOCO and complaining to three different people before I found one who would give me a case number and referred me back to the dealer.

Correct, no recall on the 407 tires, yet. I've been checking out all the 407s I see on bikes "visiting" the dealer by me, and don't seem to see much indication of the cupping problem until somewhere around 3,000 miles (some more, some less).
The "running change" from 407 to the 408 is in the HDNET service area, but just describes that some riders will get better mileage with the tread direction change.
Call the HD offices (414-343-4056), and let them know of your concerns (have your VIN number handy to validate you as on owner).
Personally, I am very dissapointed in HD's handling of this entire issue as it is pretty obvious that a lot of the 407s are cupping.

this looks to be a very big problem. i was not impressed with the previous years' d-402, but the 09's, wow. you would have thought that they would have found a solution before selling tons of the bikes with tires that are having these issues.

good luck on getting HD to replace it..
i tackled this as the "calm" HD owner 3 diff times... and it got me NOWHERE!
even with 2 case #"S. @ 4K miles.. 6k miles...and 8500miles
the 4th time i went in with another case# and an ATTITUDE.
warranty denied again.
now the attitude went through the roof.
and i let eveyone in the store know it.
the owner came out... $100 and i got a new tire installed right then.
HD is trying to sweep this under the rug and not fork out the $$ to replace ALL the screwed up tires..
on the FL models the tire changed from the 407 to the 408 mid production.
dubbed as a "design change" BS
the 2010 have the 408..
now get this...
go look at a 2009 rocker.
i know it is not the same model...but
the tire is marked D407F BUT it has the tread pattern of the D408F WTF gives. how screwed up??
now after i got my new tire installed (d408)i was told to run it at 40 PSI by the service manager.
HD is hoping riders are wanting to ride and will just fork over the $$ to get a new tire to do so. yea i was one of them.
by the time HD does a service bulletin or a recall ALL of the tires will have been replaced by at the oweners expence..they are banking on it.
