I was able to adjust the free play out of my clutch underneath the black rubber booty, but not really sure about the lever itself. Been a while since I did one but seems to me that there was one fastener that held this in place...

I think there is a spring washer that may be missing in action.

On my 09 SG the clutch lever simply rattles. I put the thing to the tight side of factory spec (1/16" free play in the cable at the clutch perch) and it still rattles. I've noticed that it is the lever vibrating on the pivot pin and this would not be helped by a tighter cable. Also, you run the risk of putting constant pressure on the clutch pack itself which may lead to accelerated wear and slipping...

There is an anti rattle clip that is attached to the bottom side of the lever. It wears. It's a half moon looking piece of plastic, simple to replace. Get one.

neckball is right, they still use that anti rattle clip. i'm not sure if they still use a nylon bushing in the lever itself for the pin to pivot on or not. if so, that may be worn out. both are very simple to replace.
