I ran into a similar problem when I lived in CA. I bought an out of state bike and it had a new speedo showing 400 mi. I had the original speedo showing 13k mi, but the DMV told me I just need to file an affidavit stating that the mileage was in fact 13k. As far as riding it up to 7500 mi? You might want to make sure whoever sells the bike to you put the mileage down as more than 7500 because DMV goes by mileage on Title and not on bike. You will run into trouble if the title states the odometer less than 7500

By the way I picked up my SG yesterday and told the guys at the dealer about the 28k offer you got. They said they would sell an SG AND throw in a free Sportster for 25k they also are considering moving to CA if they can make that much commission...lol

I could be wrong, but I think some bay area cop bikes use thunder headers. Not that cops don't break the laws they enforce. I had to go around a cop car parked lengthwise on a sidewalk the other day!
