Default New Russell Seat

I just got back from a 1500 mile ride up to Russell and back to have a seat made for my SG/RG. If you can get past the unorthodox appearance this thing is absolutely fantastic. I had a Sundowner before and just could not get comfortable for a full day's ride. Between a seriously sore back and a bit of butt burn I figured I would go with a Russell since I've had good success with them on other bikes in the past.

I had the builder move the bucket forward about 2" and build up the rear of the bucket for support. I also had him make it so the saddle portion is flatter than the original which tapers toward the rear. They also have the neatest built-in backrest that can be removed in a second. It adjusts up and down as well as fore and aft. The cushion also pivots so it hits your back squarely. The quality of the workmanship and materials is absolutely first class. They have all kinds of material options but I went with basic vinyl which looks and feels a lot like leather.

I broke up the ride home into 500 and 250 mile days. To be honest, if it hadn't gotten too late I could easily have ridden all the way home in one day! I can honestly say that the support the seat gives is remarkable. It's like it's not even there. I didn't feel a thing and no backache and no discomfort at all. I'm doing a ride from Springfield, MO to Huntington Beach, CA in September and was a bit worried as to how my back was going to do but I'm really looking forward to the ride now.

That thing has got to be the most comfortable seat ever made, Because it's so damn ugly I don't think you would keep it if it wasn't.

It actually isn't really plush. Instead of being "soft" it's more like supportive. It is on the Sundowner pan but they're all the same it seems anyway. I looked at the mold ID on a few different models and they were all the same. I rode in. If you send it to them they require 2 weeks. The saddle was $470 and the backrest assembly was $240.

I wish I could find something that is comfortable but yet not so bulky. Looking to get a seat reworked, but want something leaner.

Very nice.
I started off with a ultra classic seat on my RG.
Daylong did the rest.

I like the way it looks.

Wow we need a thread started for the strangest yet swore by most comfortable seat out there. Maybe this is that thread! Hey as I get older I find I am built for comfort not speed anymore either, so my better half says, lol.

Fantastic seats and every one there is great to work with. Chris made my first seat in 04 and my second one this June. They now have a half moon style of seat covering that looks more like a standard seat and that is the way I went this time.
