Default Those with GARMIN 660....questions

I want to go with the 660, but I love my XM. I know the the 550 has XM, but I just don't want to go that route. I have the Harley handle bar mount XM and figured I would sell it, and made a decision to just start listening to MP3s. But I need my XM. I know that the 660 plugs into the auxilary port on the HK radio so you can hear directions while listening to your MP3s, but do the voice prompts come out the speakers while you are in other modes like CD or FM radio? I was thinking I would just spend the big bucks and get the Harley XM module that works through the HK radio if I can hear the 660 that way.

Or is there a way to splice my current XM setup and the 660 to both work?

Where is the best price/place to get the 660?

Thanks,
Fatguy

Forgive my ignorance but isn't the 660 like the 765 but just waterproof? ...as in no large buttons around the bezel? I tried the NUVI 765 on a ram-mount and it was difficult to use. I now have the Roadtech 550. Hopefully the touch-screen points are large on the 660.

The voice promts as well as any MP3 files you want to listen to via any GPS will only be heard while you are in the AUX mode. If you are listening to a CD you will not hear anything coming from the GPS. One way to do what you want is via a MixIt.

Ask your question on www.zumoforums.com . That website is almost as helpful as this one!

I've had my 660 installed for about a month now, and love it. If you're playing the CD or FM radio, the voice prompts from the Zumo will not go through the radio system. You have to be in Auxliiary mode for it to play through the sound system. I am assuming you plug your satellite radio into the auxiliary port, which is where you also need to plug in the Zumo. I have not tried this, but I believe it would work... you might try a "y" adapter (2 into 1) plug. Then both inputs are going into the radio. Find someone close to you and try it, you'd only be out a few dollars.

I loaded a ton of MP3s onto a 4G micro SD card on the Zumo to plug into the aux input. Have not tried it out yet, but hope to do so today.

You assumed correctly. I had thought about a Y connector and I might give that a try. But I'm thinking I might just leave both jacks near the aux. port (with the xm plugged in most of the time) and just plug the 660 in if i need the prompts or want to listen to mp3s.

Yep, I bought my Harley Zumo 550 Roadtech from them. Sent it right out.
Beware I ordered some other stuff. I am now waiting for because they said it was not on back-order. Now they say it is. Go figure.

That's what I did on a recent trip to Yellowstone. Listened to FM radio where we had reception, and CDs anywhewre else. Found I really didn't need the voice prompts at all. Just glanced at the GPS screen occasionally. It shows you the distance to and direction of your next turn. Worked really well in the wide open spaces, don't know how easy that would be in the big cities, though.

Just got back from a short ride to run some errands. Played with the Zumo MP3 player a bit, and everything seems to work great. Good quality sound going through the auxiliary input into HK radio. When the Zumo cuts in with voice prompts the music silences momentarily, then picks right back up. Hope to go for a longer recreational ride later and another with wife tomorrow, so we'll get more of a chance to play with it.
