Don't ask me how I know ...

I'm going to look around and/or try and rig something as a crash protector for my Hogg Chopps on order when they get here. Maybe mod a footrest or something like that.
Just sharing a wacky idea that may work for protecting lower fairings ...

With my short leg/long torso build (genes with a sense of humor), I really can't use highway pegs, but I also don't want my lower fairing getting mashed if the bike goes over (again ... did a slow-mo drop on sand the other day.)

By mounting H-D 360 or Angled brackets only pointed down without footrests attached on the vertical guard (told you it was wacky), they might serve the purpose, and look reasonably good as well. (?) I can always add the footrests later if they look too stupid.

In short, what I'm looking for is something solid that won't fold up under weight, reaches down far enough, and also won't touch down before the floorboard brackets.

I'll keep you all posted if this works/makes sense. Then again, I could be over thinking this whole thing too.

Any other ideas for what I'm trying to do?

I put a set on last spring and have enjoyed them ever since. I like the fact that they mount farther forward than the stockers and are designed to funnel air to the engine instead of blocking it. No engine overheat issues whatsoever. They don't hit the fender even in full lock turns. They also went a long way to reduce the annoying helmet buffeting issue with my RG. They look different than the HD lowers and I like that.

I see he raised his prices about $30 for painted lowers; now $404 shpd.

As of today, he quoted $100 to paint the inside of the fairing.

I would think by the looks of them that they would prevent your motor from getting all of the air that it would be getting other wise. That being the case would not your motor run hotter with them installed?

There is no shortage of air passing past the motor. The shape of the chopps funnels the air to the center of the bike so as it passes through the chopps it rushes over the motor. I've checked this out with my hand while riding. Plenty of air.
