Do some research because i hear one of those is not that good in the wet.....I use EBC double sintered on my EGC 30k miles on the fronts with some serious hard riring and they are not even half worn. I hear some good stuff about Lyndall though. Did you do a search?
Any preference on brake pads. Gold or Z, plan on ordering from Dennis Kirk.
I used the Z on my Ultra hoping to reduce brake dust, that was my only complaint with the OEMs. I didn't notice any difference in performance on the rear and brake dust was indeed reduced. However, the fronts impressed me as needing more pressure on the lever to get the same results. And I noticed in rain they really weren't too good.
Just picked up a new sled with Brembos and after getting used to the Lyndalls on the old bike I almost put myself over the handlebars with the first stop! In retrospect, I'd probably use the Z again on the back where brake dust is more prevelent but I'd use OEM or something else on the front. YMMV.
Hogpro - how about some pro-con info on Z-Plus vs Gold. I use SBS Carbon Tech
but was thinking about giving Lyndall a try. I've a softail single front and that's my
primary stopper - like something real low friction in the back. Tnx in advance.
Lyndall is a first class company to deal with. I put Z+ on my back brakes to try and cure the infamous squeal. Fixed it for awhile but then started coming back again. I put some anti-squeal goop on the backs and that fixed it for quite awhile but then squealing started coming back again. I sent Lyndall an email asking if they had any suggestions. Their response was to ask for my address and they would send me a new set of Gold + gratis. Interestingly they also sent along a jar of some anti-squeal goop. Just installed the Gold + (without any goop) on the back and they seemed quite fine on a short ride. I'm heading out tomorrow for a three day ride so I can report better next week.
They are their premium racing brake and certainly a more extreme brake than the Z+ - looks like they have a lot more metal in them. I don't use my back brakes a lot so I'm not worried about more wear on the rotor. By the way, I have Z+ on the front and they are great.
