The engine guards/crash bars are a real good place to put highway pegs and the bag guards be fitted with extra storage containers/water bottle holders. Chances are that you will use the bars at least once (tip over), possibly more. I know mine work and I'm glad that I have them.

I've had the engine guard save my rear and my bike a few times in 20 years of riding. Definately worth the investment, I personally feel naked without them. I just put them on my 07 Dyna the other day. Some people will say they don't look good or they mess up the lines of the bike. Lay it down once, and your lines are really going to be jacked up, along with your wallet and perhaps your health.

I like the crash bars, if for no other reason I can not live without highway pegs. I have seen many bikes saved from real damage by the support of crash bars.

Besides being useful, the bike looks funny without them. JMO.
