Performance
I ride it to work in the morning and she runs perfect, it's conciderably cooler then,
in the evening she seems less responsive and kinda develops a ringing or whistle
on the left side rear.
Leaking header???
I thought something was loose, but checked and can't find anything.
what's got me puzzled is, the only difference is the outside temp.
the motorcycle sits inside the shop at work, and inside the garage at home.
also, I have been wondering is shutting the engine off during long traffic lights will
cause problems?
at one point I had to pull over and cool the bike and the jewels, maaaaan was that hot...
And a last POLL, do you think a touring model with a water cooled revolution engine is step in the future for HD?
Have you checked belt tension? When its warmer it may be more pliable and stretching for better fit. When it cools down everything contracts somewhat and may even be rubbing on the side of the rear pulley or something.
Sounds like you are running hot, which can be a sign of a lean condition. That could be caused by an exhaust leak, and since you think you hear something there I would investigate further. Check for an intake leak as well since you didn't find an exhaust problem.
As far as water cooled, you are probably right, but I will keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't come to that. Maybe an option would be OK. I'm all for modern technology, but HD is about tradition. At least thats my feelings.
