Default What is This From?

I took my 06 Road Glide apart to install the Fat Baggers wide tire kit. I didn't have all the tools needed to complete the job, plus FBI sent the wrong color engine spacers. I decided to put the bike back together in the original configuration.
I have a circlip left over that I can't figure out where it came from.
I don’t think it goes to the front wheel, which I replaced.
I took the primary inner case off and removed the starter.
I had the lid off the Baker DD6 tranny and removed the roller drum and the shift forks.
I had the tranny clutch ramp cover off but wasn’t able to remove the main and counter shaft with the bearing support plate. I couldn't do this because I didn't have the tools to remove the final drive pulley.
I had the rear wheel off and the swing arm off. I have the rear wheel axel circlip on the axel now.

Here is a picture of the clip with a ruler for reference.

I would be looking for something that has about a 5/8" shaft w/ groove in it. Do you have a shop manual, look in there specifically at the parts you removed, look at the exploded views to jog your memory.

Looks like the shaft will be more like an inch.

I have the shop manual and I have been keeping all parts in individual pans for each component. This was on the floor though. I've been back and forth through the manual trying to find where this goes. I've checked all the remaining shafts for a groove, but nothing appears to need this.

looks like the clip on the rear axle on the nut side.

Maybe it was on the floor when you started? I've done that before....

Its the right size for that, but he said he already has that on.

could it be the c-clip that holds the seat hold down nut in the rear fender? You did not say if you took the bike that far apart or not.

Those are the only two I can think of.

Way to small for the rear axle, but it seams to big to be the one that holds the clutch lever pin in place and I think it is a c-clip on the clutch anyhow. There isn't one on the front shifter pivot is there?
