The only draw back as far as I am concerned is how hard it is to turn the forks when parked. That is because of the way the triple trees and the steering is set up. My Heritage is totally oppisite. But other than that,I love my Glide. It handles the highway great and I never loose it in a crowd of bikes.
Oh yeah,I let my bud take mine around the block to test out my new Clearview shield, and I noticed when he came back how sweet my bike looked coming down the road.
if i wouldn't be taking such a hit on trade in on my 08 streetglide, i'd gladly pay the difference for a vivid black 09. they are just so sleek looking, look at bobzillas, have you ever seen a slicker lookin roadie? f'ugly, my butt. that roadglide of his absolutely rocks. and the windshield, whatever type it is, makes it look even cooler. bobzilla, you got a mighty slick lookin ride there.
Been ridin my 2000 RG since Jan. 02 and still lovin it! And the fairing not turnin is a non -issue for me. Been ridin bikes with fixed fairings for so long now that I never give it any thought. Go for it, you will have a blast!
Some of these folks that are concerned about the headlight not turning should go out and look, really look at how far they are actually turning in a low speed turn to see just exactly what they'll be loosing if they switch to a fixed fairing. It is minimal.
On the other hand, a turn at highway speed is acomplished by counter steering, so the fixed fairing is actually an improvement.
Bottom line, it's not an issue.
I bought my road glide a year ago and I love it,I rode it about 10 feet and I was already used to the fairing not moving I really feel that the road glide bar none is harleys best kept secret
Just looking ahead, incase the Glide is still avail. How many of you are running apes. I was thinking of future mods and that would be one them. Nothing over the top, just 14" apes.
Never mind about who's doing what buddy. Get down there and make a deal, they know what a breather looks like. Quit wasting time before that bike ends up in someone else garage!
OK Wally, I am I have to finish a mod on my Bob before I go down. The part should be here early next week. Then I am going. I will send you a PM so you are the first to know, I wont even tell my wife before you.
