Anyone done the front belt pulley on an '07 or '08? While I have it apart I am changing the front belt pulley to from the stock 32 tooth to the 30 tooth. The only question I have is about stock belt fitment. Will the stock belt work ok?
no you will need a shorter belt and harley makes one i had an 08 i did it to i like the performance but the speedometer was off and i bugged the hell out me
You will need the japan model belt. I did the same swap and you can only calibrate the speedo with a SERT Supertuner, I bought the in line calibration plug only to find out it doesnt work on an 07. Im not sure about PC tho. Are you doing this to a stock motor? Im not sure how well it will work.

The motor is stock at the moment. I will be doing a cam change this winter,
probably the Andrews 21's, air cleaner and true duals.
wait till you do the other mods. do the gearing last. a bump in compression,95" and cams, etc will perhaps let you know that you really don't need lower gearing. just a thought.
If youve got an 07 and you cam and do a big bore with a 6 speed you will have to do the gearing. I went with 510 cam and I could lug between 65 and 110 in 4th gear, and stall out taking off in first gear.

You were right about the belt. Seems its going to need a two tooth
shorter belt. Just happen to have one too!
I was thinking of doing the same. I have an 07 RK that is now 103" with cam change, PC tuner and rienhart TD. I hate the way the 6 speed is geared. It seems to lug 5th gear unless im doing 60mph and then revs to high at about 68mph. If I shift to 6th it seems to lug till I get over 70. Im not sure im explaining it correctly but hopefully someone will understand. I thought maybe going with the kit from Evolution (30 tooth sprocket & belt) might fix the problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I have the 30 tooth pulley and 6th gear only works for me at 72-75 mph and thats about 3k. Just went from Calif to Canada and with the exception of Calif the entire trip was between 4th and 5th gear (65 mph at 3200 rpms). I think they should have stayed with a 5 speed.
