Default Security System Question

ok...first off I have a 2006 RK classic

I have read threads where people take a radio shack (or similar) siren and adapt it to the security output. Can anyone tell me what wires I need and where they are located on my bike?

Thanks
Jason

Default Security wires

I'd try and use a manual with electrical schematics. Also make sure that the siren is voltage and amperage compatable. I have an 06 Ultra, but the siren is already there, and I couldn't even beigin to tell you where the wires for it are!

The RS siren has worked flawlessly on my bike since installing it about a year ago. On my '07 the siren connector is under the right side-cover and I recall reading the '08 was moved to the left side-cover. Here's the way I wired mine:

red (siren) > brown (harness)
black (siren) > green (harness)

I would guess the '06 is the same, but check the wiring schematic in your service manual. Since the connector is proprietary I cut the wires but kept the connector in case I must splice it back together some day in the future. I didn't connect it directly (solder and heat-shrink) but used blade connectors in case I needed to swap the siren anytime in the future, like if the RS siren died and I needed to replace it. The RS siren works perfectly but of course will not work with the HD wireless remote, which requires the HD siren. If you have no interest in the remote I see no reason not to make this mod, especially considering the $5.49 cost.

RS Piezo Siren

This worked on my 09 ultra, except they moved the alarm to the left side cover. Same hookup
