I love the looks of my monster ovals and the deep rumble they give but wished they were a little louder!!!
Well if you look inside the muffler you will see a round about 2 inch stop at the back of the baffle !!! Well I got the drill out drilled a 3/8 hole in each baffle!! I have true dual headpipes !! Hmm didnt change much at all!! Bigger drill bit 1/2 inch Ok a little louder but still not enough!!! Ok here comes the big guns !!! 1 inch hole saw!!!! Now the idle did not change much!!! But when you get on the throttle !!!! Holy CHIT it sounds so much better!!! Still very deep rumble but just louder!!!!
Cant wait to ride with other friends Sunday and seewhat they think!!!
The baffles are non removable without alot of effort. The whole muffler has to be torn down to access it and it needs to be reinstalled after any mods are done. The easiest way to get more sound is just like the op said and along with that if you want a little louder and more raspy take them off the bike and remove the heatshields. Now do the old glasspack trick and pour some gas in the baffle to saturate the fiberglass and light on fire. Make sure you keep your distance. Let the fire go out by itself and then try to reignite until you cannot. After you are done with that make sure you pour some water down the pipes to make sure all the gas is out and completely dry the inside of the pipe overnight then reinstall. Use this method at your own descretion and be prepared that the pipes will get very hot and discolored that is why you have to make sure the heatshield is off.

This might not be the safest way to alter baffles, but it's worth a try.
