Default Another Adjustable Backrest install question

Hey Guys, Not wanting to beat a dead horse but I have searchrd this site and not found what I am looking for. I am trying to install an adjustable backrest on my 2008 Ultra. Call me stupid but I have been staring at the frame to install the hex nut for over an hour now and cannot find any “hex” holes, let alone the one in the upper left. Where can I find it?
Also what other problems am I likely to run into?

Thanks

I am not sure what the actual differences are between the '08 kit and the '09 kit (they are different part numbers), but here are some pictures of one installed on my '09 Ultra. Maybe it will help.

The only thing that didn't work right away was when I tried to reinstall the seat. I found the backrest holder had to be all the way towards the rear of the bike before the seat would go on. Once on, everything worked fine.

Thanks Morris9982. Your pictures were great. Once I found the Hex hole in the frame plate it only took me about 20 minutes to get the backrest installed. How do you like yours?

Have a great day
Steve

I don't ride my RG without the backrest. The best thing to do (if you have a digital camera) is to take pictures of the entire process so you can look back at the pic to see what part when where. It can be frustrating to see a pile of parts and not remember where they need to go. Also, looking at a picture sometime can show you something you might not be able to see in person.

Good luck with your project.

Thanks all. After I found the dog gone "hex" hole in the face plate it only took me about 20 minutes to install. Now sure if I like it or not. On my other motorcycle the back rest folded completely done onto the seat allowing easy access for the rider. This one does not and sometimes it is difficult for my wife to get on. Oh well, we will probably get used to it.

Have a great day
