I have a 2009 Streetglide and while riding yesterday I hit the rev limiter for the first time. The check engine light came on and bike went into limp home mode. The rev is still at stock setting. As soon as I turned the key off and restarted, everything was OK. Is this a programmed setting? Any help would be appreciated.
I have a 2008 and bumped the limiter on several occasions before I put the TTS tuner on it and bumped it up, but the bike never went into any kind of limp mode. Maybe they changed something in 09.
Hmmm..
I've bumped the Rev. Limiter on my 09' Ultra a time or two and never experienced the engine light or "Limp mode". Perhaps something else is going on at the same time ? Was the motor overheated ?
OK. The other part of the story is that I just installed a Terry TV3. I have always used power commanders in the past but really wanted to try one of these. Just wanted to check with some of you guys and see if your bikes for some reason were supposed to do this. I will call Terry Components tomorrow and see what they have to say.
I was used to riding without a tach on my 02 RKC. So not being use to watching one, I accidently hit the rev limiter the first day I had the bike. No problems then and I've probably hit it a dozen times in it 5000 miles with no problems. Let us know what it turns out to be when you find out.
