Cruise Controland Speedodometer Gone

Default Cruise Controland Speedodometer Gone
While riding Saturday, at highway speeds the cruise control on my 02 RKC disengaged and the speedometer cut out. Everything else electrical is fine, just no cruise or speedometer. We continued to ride I just made sure my son stayed behind us, so that the LEO's wouldn't get him. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I would first check the VSS (speed sensor) and clean the shavings off of it, could also be going bad. I'd start there and see if that is the culprit.
