My current ride's cruise stopped working with just a couple of hundred miles on it. As it turned out, the transmission's gear sensor was covered with metal shavings/flakes caused by a shim between two gears that had failed and was being chewed up. At 1400 miles, H-D installed a new transmission. End of problem.
have the same problem, idle cable roll off was the problem, i unplug the 2 wire and the cruise work fine...try this first.
Or you can try cruise control diagnostic codes https://www.hdforums.com/forum/engin...and-codes.html
good luck
I had a similar problem and posted on this forum. Lots of info from the replies on this link:https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...t-working.html
Mine was the roll off throttle connector on the throttle idle cable. I eventually replaced the cable and now it works fine.
Thanks for the info mine is an 07' ultra. The first time I noticed it was in a rain storm. IUt stopped working but started again after the rain stopped.
Today I got mine back from the dealer, took it in yesterday.
Mine would go on for about 4 or 5 seconds, then shut off.
If I set the resume, it might work might not.
I think mine has been because it got wet when I washed it but I sprayed some electric contact cleaner in the controls and has been fine ever since
That's how mine started, after I would wash it. It would need time to dry. I even covered the hand controls when I washed it. Eventually it pretty much just quit. I unplugged the roll of switch and all is good.
